Why we started

Gardening Guru began for a simple reason: too many people in Lanarkshire told us the same story. A gardener who came twice and never returned. A quote that quietly grew once the work was underway. Green waste bagged up and left by the bins for someone else to deal with.

We thought there was room for a company that did the ordinary things properly — turning up, charging what it quoted, and clearing up afterwards. That is still the whole business plan, 12 years on.

How we work

We keep our round deliberately tight around Motherwell and the neighbouring towns. That is not a limitation, it is the point: it means we can usually be with you within a week rather than a month, and you are not paying for us to drive across Scotland.

Wherever we can, you get the same gardener every visit. It sounds like a small thing until you have had to explain three times which shrub is staying and which is coming out. Your notes, gate codes and preferences are saved against your account, so whoever is on the round already knows them.

What you can expect

• A fixed price, agreed first. Written, itemised, and honoured.
• All waste removed. Included in the price, taken to a licensed facility, composted where possible.
• Full insurance. Public liability cover, and we will happily send you the certificate.
• Honest advice. If a job does not need doing, or would be better in three months, we will say so.
• An account that actually works. Your visits, invoices and subscription are all online, and you can pause or change things yourself.

Being straight about the weather

We work in Scotland, so some visits move. Light rain is fine and we will work through it. If the ground is waterlogged or it is unsafe to be at height, we will contact you and rebook — and you are never charged for a visit that did not happen. We would rather move a date than do a poor job or damage a lawn.
